Cool Hallmark Ornament
Written by Yarddog on December 25th, 2008
Star Trek fans have reason to rejoice because the best Star Trek ornaments ever is now available, the TOS Communicator, an excellent miniaturized version of the communicator from the early days of Kirk, Spock, Scotty, and Uhura. The ornament is authentic in appearance with three lights and a number of phrases from the show when either of the two buttons are pressed. My only disappointment is that the ornament is not 1:1 (presumably because a full size communicator would have been ungainly on a tree) but is about half size.
It is also a nice reminder that the new Star Trek Movie is out in May. If it lives up to it’s press, it will be the best one yet, and let’s be honest there have been some dogs.
Sing it Bing!
Written by Yarddog on December 24th, 2008Easily my favorite Christmas song of all time.
Here’s an Irish Christmas Blessing for you and yours:
The light of the Christmas star upon you.
The warmth of home and hearth upon you.
The cheer and good will of friends upon you.
May the road always rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields.
May your home always be too small to hold your friends.
And for those who aren’t your friends,
May God turn their hearts.
And if he can not turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles,
So you may know them by their limping.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year.
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Written by Yarddog on December 20th, 2008I went to see The Day the Earth Stood Still today, the one with Keanu Reeves, not Michael Rennie. It is of course a way cool remake of the 1951 classic sci-fi film about a benevolent alien visitor (named Klaatu), and his giant not-so-benevolent super robot, who comes to Earth with a warning. The film is close enough to the original to satisfy, while including enough new twists and angles that it remained interesting. The effects are all very good, not cheesy at all.
Highly recommended.
Happy Birthday Ysabella !
